          I really like Panasonic phones. They've never let me down. I was in the telephone business for 35 years (GTE) and knew what was needed. This particular system was purchased for my Step-mom who is elderly and has a hard time getting around because of a balance problem. This system makes things way easier for her to make and answer phone calls. The satellite handset is now on an end table next to her favorite chair and she doesn't have to get up and hobble to the old "steam driven" corded phone she had. She can even retrieve answering machine messages from it. Nice back lighting and large text in display help her a lot. Ringer is plenty loud enough and volume control make conversation comfortable for her.
Battery life is great. I received phones at my home in CA., charged them, programmed them , then shipped to her home in WA. That took 6 days. Phones still had plenty of juice when they arrived at her home. All she had to do was plug 'em in! That's what I was looking for. Great phones!

          I was in the market for a simple cordless phone that had multiple charging stations that could be placed throughout the house. This phone fit the bill perfectly but I was a bit disappointed with the sound quality and ringer options/volume. First off, this phone has all of the standard features and many more. The built in answering machine seems to work very well, but once I switched to my VoIP providers voicemail option, I had no use for it. The phone does have a function to auto dial your voicemail and enter a passcode at the press of a button, but it is buried a couple of clicks into the main menu. The menu system is very robust but takes some getting used to and is not the most user friendly I have used. My favorite feature of the phone (and sometimes most comical) is the voice announcement of the caller ID. You can add names to your address book and the phone will attempt to say the name that pops up on the caller ID. This is great when you want to screen calls and don't want to run to the phone, and even with kids who get excited when the phone calls out "Nana Cell" and they can pick it up. My main negative for this phone is the very low volume on both the speaker phone and the ringer itself. I have 3 kids and it is often very loud in my house and I will sometimes miss calls because the ringer can't get any louder. I also like to use speaker often to have my hands free but the volume is just too low sometimes. In conclusion, I think this is a great phone with lots of options that has a few small negatives that keep it from being perfect.

          I love the extra large display, the sound quality both that I hear and how I sound to the one on the other end, and how it feels in my hand. It is also wonderful that I can assign different call tones to different callers and that it voice announces caller id! Wonderful! But my most favorite feature is Call Block! I was thinking of buying another electronic device as I didn't even realize that this phone set has this feature! How you access it is you highlight the last number that called you and you select "save number" and then you get your choice of saving the CID to either "PhoneBook" or "CallBlock". Times Warner cable was calling me weekly to try to get me to sign up for more features even after I asked them several times to put me on the Do-Not-Call list, so I just save them to CallBlock. Now when Times Warner Cable calls me, it rings just one time and then I see on my display that the call was blocked and TWC hears a busy signal every time they call me! Thank you Panasonic! 5 STARS for this feature alone!

Maybe I am too used to using my cell phone, but I find these phones to be a little hard to hold on to once in awhile, I always fumble them. And don't try the old "hold it against your ear with your shoulder" trick...

Otherwise, great phones. I have picked up one handset and walked all over my house and never dropped the signal. Sound quality and battery life are excellent.

I had a couple of days difference between when my new phones arrived and when the range extender arrived, so I've had some time to evaluate the phones on their own merits. Adding the range extender today has exceeded my expectations beyond anything I imagined.

I live in a three story house where the base unit is installed in my office the back corner of the second floor of the house. I installed the range extender in the front opposite corner of the second floor on a window sash. Whereas without the extender, I started picking up considerable static at my mailbox (about 180 feet from the base unit), now I can walk down to the street corner without static (about 300 feet from the base)! Sweet.

Setup couldn't have been easier. I plugged in the range extender set it on the window sash, and noted a flashing red LED on the front. I walked back to my office and held down the location button on the base unit for about 5 seconds. The base unit started beeping and the display on the telephone handset said it was registering. When it stopped beeping a couple of minutes later, I walked back to the range extender to note two solid green LEDs. That's all there was to it.

This is a great addition for the money. You won't be sorry.

          I had an older model. I gave these an honest try for several month. The manner in which the controls are setup does not make sense. You have to go through menus to place the phone on hold. The phone book is slow to come up even with just a couple names entered. The big screen call quality and range is the only thing this system has going for it over the older models. I'm personally going back to my old set and sending these to ebay! Another annoying feather, if your on the head set and push the speaker phone button nothing happens. You have to unplug the head set then push speaker phone. I run a small home business and sometimes need to have others chime in for just a minute then back to my headset. Really annoying having to unplug, push speaker phone then plug the head set back in when I'm done. Seems minor but gets old REAL fast!

          We've had this phone for a few months now, and we've moved since buying it. It has worked very well in both houses, and each time we had a handset upstairs. Reception has always been clear as a bell. We have not experienced any of the weird glitches some other reviewers have experienced. I cannot rave enough about the call block and talking caller ID. Having recently moved, the last person who had our new phone number apparently had credit problems. Telling the debt collectors they have the wrong number did not stop the calls, but the call block did. The phone will ring once when a call is being blocked. While it would be nice if there was no ring, it takes time, I guess, for the caller ID to pop up, so there is a delay. Not perfect, but I'll take it. Also, the talking ID is a fun and useful feature, one I now can't imagine being without. You can also program the phone to play a different ring tone for different people or groups in your phone group. Like the call block, this does not kick in on the first ring. My new phone company offers voice mail free. I keep the answering machine on, and the voice mail only picks up if I'm on another call. I've had no problem using the voice mail and answering machine at the same time. One small gripe - one of the buttons on one of the handsets has already rubbed off.

          My mother's portable handsets needed battery replacements, and since the older model required harder-to-find, more expensive batteries, we opted to get her a whole new set. These are fairly light weight, but feel sturdy. All batteries and necessary equipment was included. The base has a nice handset location feature - when you press the button, all the handsets will make tone noises so you can find them and will continue to do so until you've seated all handsets in the cradle or until you press the button again. Other sets I've seen really required two people - where one would have to keep pressing the button while the other person did a hunt-n-seek. This is far more practical if you're home alone and/or live alone and have misplaced a handset. There are 10 ringtones available - these are the loud MIDI type tones, not the pretty melodies you get on an iPhone - but they range from loud ringer to melodic and each handset can be set to a different volume. The base station needs to connect to a phone line, but the other handsets need their bases connected to power only. This is a great feature for those who live in older homes where the phone jacks are few & far between... and gives you more choices on where to locate a phone. My mother & I have conversed on the phone - she can hear me really well and vice versa. So far, the units have a very acceptable battery life before draining enough to cause noise. This is a nice ensemble at a very reasonable price.
