Motorola DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone L510BT Series with Digital Answering System and Bluetooth Reviews
After using this phone set for a few months, these are things I like:- Having three handsets with their own chargers to spread around the house is nice. Also the charges are small and take up very little desk space. Handsets are comfortable to hold and more substantial in size than many phone sets, thereby placing the ear and mouth pieces in their appropriate locations.
- Sound quality is good on both ends of the conversation.
- The backlit screen is of good size and brightly lit when you push any button. It stores calls you have received, calls you have made, and also has a phonebook which is easy to make entries in.
- The answering system is loud and clear, and you can either listen to it on speaker phone or hear it privately. It is controlled from in the handset, so you can listen to messages from any of the three handsets.
- The battery life seems to be good so far after a few months of use.
What I'm not thrilled about:
- The keypad is not backlit which would not be such a problem if the keys were raised. Instead, the keypad is completely flat, so you cannot feel them in low lighting or in the dark.
- It is difficult to push the numbers on the flat keypad, and I find myself typically using two hands to dial a number because of it; one to hold the phone and the other to push the numbers. It's possible that the keypad may last longer because it is not raised, and it is definitely easier to wipe clean, but I'm not convinced the tradeoff is worth it.
- It is difficult to tell that there is a message waiting for you. The only indicator is a tiny, gray, unlit icon that looks like a cassette tape. It blinks on and off when you have an unheard message. If you are used to a regular answering machine with a blinking light that you can see across the room, this will disappoint you.
- Though the handsets seat themselves securely, the two extra charging stations are so small and lightweight that you have to be careful not to knock them over.
Overall this phone set seems to be well made. I have dropped the handsets a number of times with no damage done, and the battery covers stay in place. I personally don't have any problems with all of the features (including the answering system) included on the handsets. I use a cell phone most of the time, and I am used to the "learning curve" that exists with each new phone. My parents, on the other hand, when at my home visiting the grandkids always find using my phone a challenge. The menu confuses them and they seem to find the keypad difficult.
In conclusion, I would say this is a great phone for most, but I wouldn't buy this one for your grandmother, she probably won't like it as much as you.
